- Story Text:India is looking forward to playing against their arch-rivals Pakistan, said vice-captain K.L. Rahul on Friday (August 26) in Dubai ahead of their blockbuster faceoff in the group stage of Asia Cup.
Bilateral cricket remains suspended between the bitter neighbours who play each other only in multi-team tournaments.
Rahul called the Sunday (August 28) match a "high-intensity" game and said the team is looking forward to starting the tournament on a strong note.
Rahul said the team is not worried about former skipper Virat Kohli's rough patch.
"We all eagerly want Virat to get back to his 'Virat Kohli' form," Rahul said.
One of the premier batsmen of his era, Kohli has endured a prolonged run drought and is without a century in international cricket since his 70th in a test match in November 2019.
Former India coach Ravi Shastri recommended Kohli take a break from the game to rediscover his hunger.
He was rested from India's Twenty20 tour of West Indies but he remains very much in India's planning for the 20-overs World Cup in Australia later this year.
India will begin their Asia Cup defence with Sunday's clash with Pakistan in the six-team Twenty20 tournament.
The nine-team Twenty20 tournament was shifted to the United Arab Emirates last month due to the political and economic crisis in Sri Lanka, who retain the hosts' honour. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
