- Story Text: Netflix unveiled at least nine titles of Hindi films on Monday (August 29) which are to be released in India in the upcoming months.
Netflix India's head of content Monika Shergill made the announcement during a star-studded event in Mumbai where she revealed the names of new titles.
Bollywood stars like Tabu, Yami Gautam, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Varma will be seen on Netflix, a streaming laggard in India, as the entertainment giant has collaborated with some of the most major production houses.
Netflix has long positioned India, with its population of 1.4 billion, as a key market. In 2018, two years after it launched in the country, CEO Reed Hastings predicted its next 100 million subscribers would come from India. But so far it has just 5-6 million, according to analysts' estimates. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
