- Story Text:Aid was distributed to Pakistan's flood victims on Thursday (September 1) in Rohjan, a southern district of Punjab.
The region, which already experiences extreme poverty, has been hit hard by the recent flooding with houses and crops destroyed and thousands homeless.
"We have been displaced by the water for the past 15 days. We have lost everything. But until today we had received nothing,†said an unidentified flood victim.
People were seen lining up for aid and food brought in by a local NGO.
Record monsoon rains and melting glaciers in northern mountains have triggered floods that have killed at least 1,191 people, including 399 children.
Pakistan's meteorological office predicted more rains and flash flooding for the month of September.
Northeastern Punjab province and southern Sindh are expected to receive abnormal rainfall, the office said, adding that isolated heavy downpours can trigger flash flooding.
