Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was shot in the shin on Thursday (November 3) when his anti-government protest convoy came under attack in the east of the country in what his aides said was a clear assassination attempt.
The shooting has brought up memories of the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Bhutto, was assassinated on December 27, 2007, in a gun and bomb attack as she left an election rally in the city of Rawalpindi.
Benazir's killer has never been caught and a United Nations inquiry found that Pakistani authorities had failed to protect her or properly investigate her death.
