  • Story Text: The departure of creative director Alessandro Michele from French luxury goods company Kering's star label Gucci on Wednesday (November 24) marks a new chapter for the fashion house.
    Gucci under Michele's stewardship has assembled a list of high-profile brand ambassadors, which include singers Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and Miley Cyrus as well as actors Dakota Johnson, Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, and Jared Leto.
    In 2021, "Squid Game" actor Lee Jung-jae became a Gucci global brand ambassador, as part of the brand's focus on signing up high-profile names from South Korea.
    The designer's departure, which was first reported by Women's Wear Daily (WWD), citing unnamed sources, followed tensions between the designer and Kering's top management, a source told Reuters.
    A former accessories designer, Michele is credited with reviving Gucci's popularity with flamboyant and gender-fluid styles.
    Michele's departure comes as the key holiday season approaches and ahead of the January fashion shows.
