- Story Text: South Korea and South Africa earned first-time awards in the Telenovela and Kids Programing categories at the International Emmy Awards in New York on Monday (November 21).
“Yeonmo [The King’s Affection]†became the first South Korean show to win in the Telenovela category.
“I’m so honored as an individual I’m able to do this for the broadcasting company, as it is the largest broadcasting company in Korea, they’ve always aspired to create good stories of a high content and good quality. And this honor sort of affirms that they have been able to do that thus far and they look forward to continuing to do that in the future,†said chief producer Jae Hyeok Yoon.
While South Africa’s "My Better World" snagged the prize in the Kids programing lineup.
Lou de Laage and Dougray Scott were named best actors, while director Ava DuVernay was presented with this year’s Founders Award.
This year’s Directorate Award went to Miky Lee, Vice Chairwoman of CJ Group.
The event was hosted by magician Penn Jillette.
