- Story Text: A house based on Astrid Lindgren's "Pippi Longstocking" books won the people's prize at the annual Christmas Gingerbread House competition at Stockholm's Museum Of Architecture and Design on Sunday (December 18).
Designed and constructed by regular participants Sanna Livijn Wexell, Monika Stenholm and Cecilia Clarving, the Pippi-inspired house featured an array of characters from Lindgren's beloved series children's books and beat off strong competition to win the people's prize.
This year's theme set by the organisers was "Around The Corner," and other entries in the competition, which is now in its 15th year, featured literary themes such as the books of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf and the fairytale of Rapunzel.
There were also robots, ferris wheels and even a gingerbread PacMan game on display as entrants used their imagination and baking skills to bring their creations to life.
The exhibition of all the entries, which has become a popular feature of Christmas celebrations in the Swedish capital, runs until January 8.
