The way we deal with it as a team is that we provide them with pain killers and vitamin K to stop any bleeding that is occurring. The second thing is that we take them to veterinary clinics to provide them with other veterinary medical stuff that they need such as surgery or stitching their wounds." The thing is that it is very important to give them their medication on daily basis on time such as antibiotics and pain killers, (and) giving them nutritious food so that they can recover fast. Their emotional aspect is very important too. We need to make them feel safe and make them know that they are going to be okay." But we took the initiative to publish videos of stray animals being killed by shooting or using toxic substances, and the nature of harm these practices cause to these stray dogs, until things changed and people understood the situation and cooperated with us in bringing these dogs to the veterinary clinic." Then we castrated the male dogs by injecting them with special medications and then numbering them in their ears, indicating to everyone that these dogs had become barren, and after that we returned these dogs to their previous locations." - Story Text: An animal rescue team works to spread awareness in Iraq's Sulaymaniyah, by searching for stray animals and providing them with assistance.
The campaign, organised by PAK, is primarily made of volunteers and students specialised in aminal protection.
They provide the animals with shelter, feed them, clean their wounds and show them care.
They are trying to rase awareness by publishing videos and showing the harm being done to animals, mostly stray dogs who are injured in car acccidents or injected with toxic substances.
A project to trap–neuter–return was launched to collect stray animals from different regions, neuter them, make sure they are healed. The animals are later tagged to let the public know they have been neutered
PAK was launched in 2018 and includes 35 members, all working on voluntary basis.
