- Story Text: Tourists and locals in Mexico City woke to Christmas-like scenes on Monday (December 26) when several parts of the city were covered in snow due to low temperatures.
One of these places was the city's Ajusco volcano, where families drove to enjoy the rare snowfall with snowball fights and by building snowmen on top of their cars.
Local authorities advised residents to keep themselves and their pets warm to avoid colds.
Mexico City's Integrated Risk Management Secretariat activated an orange alert in the capital's municipalities where the temperature reached between 1 and 3 degrees Celsius (33.8 and 37.4 degrees Fahrenheit).
