- Story Text: German carmaker BMW wowed CES on Wednesday night (January 4) as it unveiled its brand new color-changing i Vision Dee Concept car with a little help from Hollywood superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The BMW i Vision Dee, a mid-size sedan with a futuristic-looking, pared-down design, has also expanded on the car-makers color-change technology, that first made waves at CES 2022, with Dee now able to transform into 32 colors, not just black and white.
"Well, dear friends, meet Dee, but please don't call her just a car. You will hurt her feelings. She likes to think of herself as a promise, a commitment, or even better, a companion," said BMW CEO Oliver Zipse, as he showed the car off at CES.
Joining Zipse on stage, Schwarzenegger praised BMW for pushing the envelope and said technology was an "ally."
"In most of my movies, the machines were the enemy. But today, we found ways to use technology as an ally," said the Hollywood star and former California governor.
"The bottom line is technology can solve all of the biggest problems. It can change the world. And like you've just seen, it can be really, really fun," he added.
The name “Dee†stands for Digital Emotional Experience and the concept car also features the BMW Head-Up-Display that extends across the full width of the car's windscreen, technology that will be available from 2025 in the models of the NEUE KLASSE.
