He can create something that is commercial. But at the same time, it’s something you feel like you've seen in the indie classics. You know what I mean? He has such great character stories in the midst of whatever chaos that could be happening, and I think the way he plays with that balance is something to be, or that will be if it's not already being studied.†WRITER AND DIRECTOR JORDAN PEELE POSING FOR PICTURES, PALMER JOINING PALMER POSING FOR PICTURES (SOUNDBITE) (English) BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS WINNER, KEKE PALMER, SAYING: “Yeah. I mean, prepping for the baby, I definitely slowed down more than usual. I mean obviously, it’s the top of the year, and I think everybody's kind of slowed down. But yeah, I mean, I'm prepping for the baby – I got my nursery all set up. I need to make sure I get a couple of last-minute things, you know, get my baby shower ready and all the family fun stuff. So, I'm looking forward to it, I just can't wait.†PEELE POSING FOR PICTURES BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR WINNER KE HUY QUAN POSING FOR PICTURES (SOUNDBITE) (English) BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR WINNER, KE HUY QUAN, SAYING: “It feels incredible. I mean, honestly, I didn't think I would have a day like this. You know, when I decided to get back into acting, I mean, like I said before, all I wanted was just a steady job. And to be recognized by such an esteemed group tonight feels amazing.†"EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE" FILMMAKER DANIEL SCHEINERT POSING WITH JONATHAN WANG, ACTOR KE HUY QUAN AND FILMMAKER DANIEL KWAN (SOUNDBITE) (English) BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR WINNER, KE HUY QUAN, SAYING: (ON HOW HIS BREAK FROM ACTING HELPED HIM) “Well, you know, you can't - I think it's important to experience life. You know, with all the highs and the lows. You know, to balance it out. So, you don't really appreciate the highs unless you unless in your experience the lows, the peaks, and the valleys. So, I, you know, I wouldn't change a thing. I remember how difficult it is for me to get here, for me to be here today. I will never forget it. And I think it just makes me even more grateful.†ACTOR AND PRODUCER OF "MARCEL THE SHELL", JENNY SLATE, POSING FOR PICTURES (SOUNDBITE) (English) BEST ANIMATED FILM WINNER, JENNY SLATE, SAYING: “I think the goal initially was to create an interesting and entertaining story that didn't really mess with the original short films that Marcel is based on. And that's a challenge, but a worthy one.†"TAR" DIRECTOR TODD FIELD POSING FOR PICTURES (SOUNDBITE) (English) BEST FILM WINNER, TODD FIELD, SAYING: “I mean, the idea of best anything is absurd, you know? I mean, it's subjective, but - if someone's, if someone's going to invite you to a party and put that sign on your back, you know, you could do a lot worse, you know?†"RRR" DIRECTOR S.S. RAJAMOULI POSING FOR PICTURES (SOUNDBITE) (English) BEST DIRECTOR WINNER, S.S. RAJAMOULI, SAYING: (ASKED IF HE CAN BELIEVE HE WON) “Not yet. It is, it really feels unreal. Like, like I was saying, the reception in the West for my film itself was, took me a lot of time to believe. Now getting the best director at the NYFCC, I still can't believe it. Let me get inside, let me get hands-on my award, and come and tell you this is real.†ACTRESS KERRY CONDON POSING FOR PICTURES BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM WINNER LAURA POITRAS POSING FOR PICTURES PHOTOGRAPHER AND ARTIST NAN GOLDIN POSING FOR PICTURES COMEDIAN AND TV HOST MICHELLE BUTEAU SPEAKING TO A REPORTER
