- Story Text: German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and her French counterpart Catherine Colonna travelled to Adama in Ethiopia on Thursday (January 12) to inspect stores of grain delivered from Europe.
Both ministers were in the country to vow their government's support for rebuilding the war affected areas in Ethiopia, which started in 2020.
A peace agreement was signed between the warring parties at the end of last year.
The ministers met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, and pledged to ease the effects of the war in the Tigray and Amhara regions.
Also on the agenda was the subject of rising food prices being exacerbated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the climate crisis.
The French Foreign Minister, Catherine Colonna, said the war in Ukraine had affected many countries like Ethiopia.
Ethiopia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister said the country was committed to the peace process.
Earlier the two Foreign Ministers were greeted in Addis Ababa by the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
