  • Story Text: South African President Nelson Mandela met United States superstar Whitney Houston on Thursday (November 10) at the government buildings in Pretoria.

    In a touching gesture, the South African President took her hankerchief and wiped away Whitney Houston's tears.

    The president commended Whitney Houston for her contributions to local children's charities and her anti-apartheid stance.

    Houston has donated one million United States dollars to South African childrens' charities from her current concert tour of the country.
