- Story Text: Spanish Minister for Economic Affairs Nadia Calvino said on Saturday (February 25) said that discussions on the communiqué from the G20 finance leaders' meeting were getting difficult however, there was some progress.
G20 finance chiefs have been unable to reach a consensus on describing the war in Ukraine and are likely to end a meeting in India without a joint communique, delegates said.
"The approach of the Spanish government is one where we have to maintain the language that was agreed by our leaders in Bali. This language has to feature in the communiqué since; obviously we cannot reduce the ambition or change the language that have been agreed by our leaders in Bali," Calvino said at a news conference in southern Bengaluru city.
The leaders' declaration after the last G20 summit in Bali deplored "in the strongest terms the aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and demands its complete and unconditional withdrawal from the territory of Ukraine."
Calvino said the outlook for Spanish economy was "positive" for 2023.
