    The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced nominations on January 24 for the 95th Academy Awards.
    The following is a list of nominees in the actress in a supporting role category:
    Angela Bassett – “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”
    Hong Chau – “The Whale”
    Kerry Condon – “The Banshees of Inisherin”
    Jamie Lee Curtis – “Everything Everywhere All at Once”
    Stephanie Hsu – “Everything Everywhere All at Once”
    Actress Angela Bassett plays Queen Ramonda in Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. Bassett recently won the Golden Globe award for best supporting actress for her role in the film, which sees her transformed into the leader of the fictional country Wakanda.
    Hong Chau, supporting actress in “The Whale”, has received several nominations and one award for her role. Chau received the New York Film Critics Online Award for best supporting actress in the film about a morbidly-obese teacher’s quest to rekindle his relationship with his teenage daughter. Chau plays nurse and friend Liz, who assists the teacher in his journey.
    Irish actress Kerry Condon is nominated for her role as Siobhan in “The Banshees of Inisherin”, where she supports the roles of Hollywood big-names Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Condon has already bagged best supporting actress awards from several regional film critic associations, including London, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. She recently won the award for best supporting actress at the 2023 BAFTAs.
    Jamie Lee Curtis said she only took on her supporting role as Dierdre Beaubeirdre in “Everything Everywhere All at Once” because of lead actress Michelle Yeoh.
    “Honestly, when my agent said that there was a movie with Michelle Yeoh, I said I'll do it. He said, well, you have to read it... I was like, yeah I'll read it. Then I read it, I was like, yes I'll do it. I mean, she is just extraordinary and I've never met her and I thought what a wonderful opportunity to work with her,” she said on the BAFTA’s red carpet on February 19.
    Co-star Stephanie Hsu is also nominated for her supporting role in the film. Hsu plays Joy Wang, daughter of Yeoh’s character Evelyn. Hsu's performance has won her a collection of critics association awards, most notably from the UK Film Critics Association and Online Association of Female Film Critics.
    Winners will be revealed on March 12 in Los Angeles.
