- Story Text: Korean popstar Krystal Jung made her Cannes debut on Thursday (May 25) at the premiere for Kim Jee-woon's film about making a film, "Cobweb".
The film stars "Parasite" actor Song Kang-ho as a director in the 1970s, Kim Ki-yeol, who is obsessed with a desire to re-shoot the end of his latest film, "Cobweb", to make it the masterpiece it could have been.
Jung, who started her career in South Korean girl group f(x), plays a young actress rising to stardom thanks to "Cobweb".
This is Kim's third film to screen Out of Competition at Cannes Film Festival. He previously came to the cinema showcase with "The Good, The Bad, The Weird" in 2008 and 2005's "A Bittersweet Life". Song was the 2022 Cannes Film Festival's best actor winner.
The film festival, in its 76th edition, had five Korean films in its line-up this year but none in the main competition selection.
Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" became the first ever Korean film to win a Palme d'Or in 2019.
