  • Story Text: Neighbours laid flowers at the home of iconic singer Tina Turner in Switzerland on Thursday (May 25), following her death aged 83.
    Laying a single red rose on the gate of Turner's home in Kuesnacht, outside of Zurich, Kosta said the singer had been “a part of my life for over 35 years”. The neighbour added Turner was well liked in town.
    Another neighbour, Christine, said Turner had liked living in Switzerland, where she could walk around without being approached.
    Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on Nov. 26, 1939, in the rural Tennessee community of Nutbush, which she described in her 1973 song "Nutbush City Limits" as a "quiet little old community, a one-horse town."
    The American-born singer who left a hardscrabble farming community and abusive relationship to become one of the top recording artists of all time, died peacefully after a long illness in her Swiss home on Wednesday (May 25), her representative said.
