- Story Text: Dozens of people have marched in silence in Guadalajara, on Friday (June 2) demanding justice for call centre workers abducted in Mexico and whose remains were allegedly found this week in 45 bags thrown in a ravine.
Relatives and friends joined the quiet march with banners and signs bearing photographs of seven missing call centre employees demanding justice for them and the other disappeared in the state.
Jalisco state prosecutors on Thursday (June 1) said the human remains discovered in bags on the outskirts of Guadalajara appear to resemble the features of the missing employees but were still subject to forensic tests to formally identify the victims.
“We hope today we will be able to confirm the zone has been completely inspected,†the state governor, Enrique Alfaro, said on Friday.
Authorities made the gruesome discovery earlier this week following a tip-off, part of a search for seven call center workers in their 20s and 30s who had disappeared.
An eighth person, who is potentially linked to the group, is also missing.
According to government data, over 100,000 people are currently missing in Mexico, where organized crime has ravaged parts of the country.
Jalisco state in particular is a hotbed for major cartels, including the Jalisco New Generation cartel and rivals Nueva Plaza.
