(SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR, ARIAN MOAYED, SAYING: "We have been here before. They have tried to take money from us before. They have tried to squeeze us, decades of this, over and over and over again. And it's only us coming together, united, that can fight these people and tell them, 'We deserve a living wage. We deserve breaks. We deserve to work together to make beautiful art so people can enjoy it.' It's like these people haven't seen fucking 'Succession.' It's about you. The most important thing that we can do right now as a unit, as a group, is to keep together. They're going to try to divide us. They're going to try to tell us this, that and the other. All we can do right now is show up, care, be here, picket, post, keep posting, make stories, tell people about this, that's the only thing that we can do. United, we will beat them. I am so proud to be an actor and so proud to be in this union. Here we go."

Actors Christian Slater and Wendell Pierce joined a rally in New York's Times Square on Tuesday (July 25) to support U.S film and television writers and actors striking for higher pay and new terms in the streaming era.
Hollywood actors went on strike at midnight on July 13 after talks with studios broke down, joining film and television writers who have been on picket lines since May and deepening the disruption of scores of shows and movies.
Actors union SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America want increases in base pay and residuals in the streaming TV era, plus assurances they will not be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI).
Since June, Hollywood studios and performers have debated the use of AI in film and television.
Failure to agree on terms around AI was one reason why the SAG-AFTRA union representing actors and media professionals joined the writers guild in the first simultaneous strike in 63 years.
