  • Story Text:British tourists on Monday (July 24) recounted fleeing wildfires on Rhode after cutting holidays short, with one warning deaths could happen due to the lack of help for those stranded.
    Holidaymakers arriving back in the UK at Birmingham Airport told of sleeping on floors outside and seeing the fires from their resorts.
    Thousands of people have been flown home by tour operators to escape the fires raging on the Greek island of Rhodes.
    Fires burning since Wednesday on Rhodes forced the evacuation of 19,000 people over the weekend as an inferno reached coastal resorts on the island's southeast.
