- Story Text: At least 17 people died in western Mexico when a passenger bus plunged off a highway into a ravine in the early hours of Thursday (August 3), a state official said.
Fourteen adults and three children were killed, 22 more passengers had been injured but were in stable condition, the official added.
A source from Nayarit's firefighting service said six Indian citizens were among the 40 passengers traveling towards Tijuana.
Rescuers worked to lift the victims' bodies from the bus stuck in the ravine that is some 50 meters (164 ft) deep, according to authorities.
Authorities said it was not clear what had caused the bus to go off the road.
