This is a craft and it needs practical training for the community inside the camp. If we find any support, we can expand our work.†ADRE, CHAD (AUGUST 1, 2023) (REUTERS) VARIOUS OF SUDANESE REFUGEE ABU HURAIRAH, WORKING AS A BARBER IN THE CAMP (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SUDANESE REFUGEE AND BARBER IN CAMP, ABU HURAIRAH, SAYING: “Previously, I did not work as a barber, but after we came here, and the conditions became very tragic, it became very difficult to make a living, and my mother and father died. - Story Text: Sudanese refugees living in a camp in the Chadian city of Adre have opened small ventures at makeshift tents to offer services for the thosudans who fled violence back home.
The services include a mill to grind corn into flour, a tailor, a barber, and a solar panel used to supply much needed electricity, enough for refugees to charge their mobile phones.
Those with cash pay for these services, while others follow a barter-like system.
Some of the people practice their actual jobs, while others learned inside the camp to provide for their families.
Hundreds of thousands of Sudanese have fled to Chad since the conflict began over one hundred days ago.
