Masqueraders donning brightly colored costumes danced their way through Toronto on Saturday (August 5), as part of the five-day long festival honoring Caribbean culture.
During the Grand Parade, twelve bands playing music ranging from calypso to reggae competed for the title of top band. Each band was accompanied by floats and dancers in elaborate costumes.
Several of the groups participating in this year's festivities said their costumes were a nod to movies, like 'Avatar' and the recently released 'Barbie.'
The annual celebration started in 1967.
