- Story Text: The Mega Millions lottery jackpot soared to $1.1 billion dollars ahead of Tuesday's (August 1) night drawing after no one matched the numbers from Friday night's drawing for $1.05 billion.
The chance of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is about 1 in 302.6 million, but that didn't stop some Washington, D.C. residents who bought tickets on Tuesday, with one person telling Reuters they were 'hopeful' about their chances.
There has not been a Mega Millions jackpot winner since April 18. The jackpot has since been rising, now making it the sixth largest in U.S. history at $1.1 billion.
