- Story Text: Meghan, the wife of Britain's Prince Harry, turns 42 years old on Friday (August 4).
Meghan is a former American actress and married Harry in May 2018 in a lavish ceremony in Windsor Castle that was heralded at the time as a sign of a more modern monarchy, and became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The couple sparked turmoil in the monarchy in January 2020 when they announced they would no longer be working members of Britain's monarchy, would forgo public funds and would repay money spent on refurbishing their cottage west of London as they embarked on an independent future.
They cited false and invasive media coverage as a major factor in their decision. Harry said it was destroying his mental health, and that was why the couple had moved to Los Angeles with their son Archie.
In June 2021, Meghan gave birth to her second child, a baby girl, whom she and Harry named Lilibet Diana, after Queen Elizabeth and his late mother Princess Diana. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
