- Story Text: Bolivians were delighted by a cold snap that brought rare snow to the country's highlands on Sunday (August 13).
The National Service of Hydrology and Meteorology (SENAHMI) reported snow, rain, and thunderstorms as temperatures fell to four degrees 0º C (39.2 F) in western areas.
A street vendor from El Alto told Reuters she hopes the snow will help potatoes grow in the dry country, one of the main products of the Bolivian highlands.
The price of potatoes and other vegetables increased over the past weeks, affecting the country's poorest families.
