- Story Text: Argentine leftist worker organizations took to the streets of Buenos Aires on Thursday (September 14) to protest the presidential candidate leading the polls Javier Milei.
Protesters expressed their fear regarding the politics of the radical libertarian candidate who won the first round of elections and added they would oppose his proposals if he reaches power in the October election.
Milei, who made a name for himself as a "shock jock" TV commentator, has struck a chord with angry Argentine voters grappling with 113% inflation, a cash-strapped government, a sagging economy, and some four-in-ten people in poverty.
Worker organisations also protested Alberto Fernandez's government measures hitting the pockets of retired workers, unemployed citizens and workers, the peso devaluation, the skyrocketing inflation, and the deal with the IMF.
A poll last week from consultancy Analogias showed Milei with a lead of 31.1% of the vote, and another poll from Opinaia gave him 35% of the vote.
