- Story Text: A Brazilian sawmill worker recounted on Wednesday (September 6) his terrifying experience escaping the Mucum flooding, in the south area of the country.
Dominguez Fontana, 74, walked among debris of his home pointing at collapsed roofs and wreckage.
Macum was one of the hardest-hit cities by the heavy rains in Rio Grande do Sul state, where the death toll rose to 36 on Wednesday according to authorities.
On Tuesday (September 5) the rain stopped but weather forecaster Climatempo anticipated more on Wednesday and Thursday, before showers dissipate by Sunday, with the state still on alert for floods.
