Summary:July 4 1969 as American troops began to pull out of South Vietnam under President Nixon's promised planned withdrawal, South Vietnamese units were being deployed to replace them. This patrol in the Mekong Delta area was taking over from units of American 9th Infantry Division and were adopting the same airborne tactics to root out suspected Vietcong activities among the villages of the area.
