In chilly Barcelona, 50 naked activists braved 12 degrees Celsius to demonstrate against the fur industry, calling on the EU to ban fur farms and fur products from the European market on Sunday (December 3).
The demonstration was part of the European Citizen Initiative #FurFreeEurope, which has gathered over 1.5 million signatures.
With the European Commission's commitment to an animal welfare legislative review by late 2023, activists urge prompt action to alleviate animal suffering in industries like fur farming, industrial farms, and animal testing.
While some EU member states have banned fur farming, AnimaNaturalis activists emphasize the need for comprehensive European legislation, noting that the fur trade sacrifices 32 million animals, necessitating considerations in public health, legal, environmental, and ethical realms.
