- Story Text: Moscow experienced its lowest temperature in 74 years as thermometers plunged to minus 27C in some districts on Thursday (January 4) according to meterologists.
But residents and visitors to the Russian capital seemed undeterred by the record low as city's river froze over but the sun shone.
"It's invigorating! The weather is sweet. It brings joy to the soul," said one Moscow resident.
According to the Russian met office, the temperatures are around 13-15 degrees colder than normal for this time of the year.
The severe cold weather is expected to remain in Russia’s capital until the Orthodox Christian Christmas (January 7). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
