- Story Text:On the final leg of his African tour in Ivory Coast on Wednesday (January 17), Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi commended the nation's Africa Cup of Nations hosting and underscored the strong China-Ivory Coast partnership, focusing on mutual support over key issues like Taiwan.
Wang, China’s top diplomat, is wrapping up his first trip to Africa of the year, having visited Egypt, Tunisia and Togo before arriving in Ivory Coast on Wednesday.
Yi praised Ivory Coast for hosting this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, while emphasizing how Chinese firms had contributed to some of the tournament’s infrastructure.
He said the two nations share a strong strategic partnership, noting that Ivory Coast supported the “reunification and territorial integrity” of China and Taiwan.
