  • Story Text: The hottest party ticket in Hollywood was left for Michel Hazanavicius and his team of players from "The Artist" to see out the night at an exclusive winners party hosted by independent film mogul Harvey Weinstein on Sunday (February 26).
    The studio led by Bob and Harvey Weinstein went into the night with 16 nominations overall, and "The Artist" brought home five of them -- best picture, actor, director, costume design and original score.
    Speaking to Reuters on arrival at the event, Michel Hazanavicius talked of being honored by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
    "I am very honored because this is the highest honor a director can receive. And, being a French person, it's something that I could have never dreamt about," said Hazanavicius.
    Best actor winner Jean Dujardin said he was surprised and honored with his historic win. With his role of George Valentin in the black and white siltent film, he became the first Frenchman to win a best actor Academy Award.
    "I'm thrilled, I am very happy, I'm very proud, I'm shocked. I am over the moon," says Jean Dujardin.
    Wrapping up a night of success for The Artist, the unsung hero of this remarkable film was left to have the final word. Speaking in French, Uggie expressed his joy for being on the winning team.
    "Arf! Arf!" he explained, before heading indoors to party the night away.
    In total, the Weinstein company brought home eight Academy Awards, including two for "The Iron Lady" - best actress Meryl Streep, and best achievement in makeup, and best documentary feature for "Undefeated."
