- Story Text: Many commuters in Tokyo headed home early on Monday (February 5) to avoid transport disruptions as the Japanese capital issued heavy snowfall warning for the first time this year.
Around 3 p.m. local time (0600 GMT), office workers were seen rushing to a train station in central Tokyo. "I want to go home early while I still can,” said one office worker, Ritsu Moto.
According to Japan’s Meteorological Agency, heavy snow is expected in the greater Tokyo area from Monday afternoon to Tuesday (February 6).
Japan’s public broadcaster NHK reported that 46 flights to and from Haneda were cancelled by Japan Airlines, and 30 flights halted by All Nippon Airways.
