- Story Text: Hong Kong welcomed the Year of the Dragon with a parade on Saturday (February 10) as the city celebrated its first Lunar New Year since pandemic restrictions were lifted.
The event included local performances as well as international performers from many countries including Japan, Korea, Germany, the U.S., and the Netherlands, according to the Hong Kong tourism board.
The parade is part of Hong Kong's push to attract international tourists. Hong Kong leader John Lee unveiled a promotion campaign last February to lure visitors, businesses and investors back to the financial hub after more than three years of tough COVID-19 curbs.
Hong Kong's retail sales rose for the 13th consecutive month in December as tourism continued to improve, official data showed on Thursday (February 1).
