- Story Text: In a whirl of colour and music, Bolivia's carnival got underway on Monday (February 12) in La Paz, where dozens showed off their traditional dances.
Wearing elaborate costumes, dancers from over 40 dance groups twirled through the streets during the Andean Carnival, also known as J’iska Anata.
The Andean Jisk'a Anata celebration is one of Bolivia's indigenous population's most important festivals and involves the combining and coming together of many of the La Paz department's Andean populations.
The festival aims to rescue melodies, instruments and dances of the country's indigenous communities.
