A decree issued by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in 2020, February 26 was designated to mark Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014.
Following the annexation of peninsula, tensions escalated further with Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
