- Story Text: Some of Hollywood's most creative and talented filmmakers celebrated their achievements walking the red carpet on Sunday (February 25) in Hollywood, California, at this year's Producers Guild Awards (PGA).
Among the attendees at the gala were the stars of the film Oppenheimer: Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Maestro producer and actor Bradley Cooper, Killers of The Flower Moon Lily Gladstone, and Barbie's Margot Robbie.
The night's top honor nominees, the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, included last year's blockbusters Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Killers of the Flower Moon. At the same time, Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall made their international debut in the category for the first time.
"I don't think at that point we would have thought it's the type of film that might be recognized by, PGA and the Oscars and the BAFTAs in this way. So yeah, it's just really thrilling," said Zone of Interest Producer James Wilson.
The PGA accounts for over 8,400 film producers and represents all producing team members in film, television, and other media. As one of the last ceremonies before the Oscars, the PGA's Zanuck Award has been a gauge for several categories at the Academy Awards, including Best Picture with "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once," which won both last year.
The PGA honorees for the night included filmmaker Martin Scorsese and Producers Gail Berman and Charles D King.
"I really thought Barbie was going to be a very big movie because I think it had a really broad family appeal, but I wasn't sure about Oppenheimer, but when I saw the movie I thought it was extraordinary." Gail Berman told Reuters.
The Oscars will be handed out in Hollywood on March 10 to producers, directors, actors, and actresses in a star-studded television show viewed worldwide and among the most-watched TV programs in the United States.
