- Story Text: The fourth Thai suspect connected with a rhino-poaching syndicate linked to Chumlong Lemtongthai appeared in a South African court on Wednesday (March 28).
The 41-year-old, Tun Csi Pem was arrested after a last minute tip-off and will remain in custody until a bail hearing on Thursday April 12, Magistrate Mhlali said.
Lemtongthai is charged with obtaining permits for trophy hunting and purchasing rhinocerous horns from the hunters to send overseas.
Csi Pem is likely to join other Thai nationals in a trial for illicit exporting of rhino horn. The syndicate is accused of using prostitutes to pose as trophy hunters. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
