Summary:Two Soviet spies, Polish-born Peter and Helen Kroger, were flown back to Warsaw after serving a prison term for their espionage activities in Britain. The Krogers were at the centre of a spy scandal at Portland naval base which rocked British security in 1961. Arrested and sentenced, they served less than half their 20-year prison term before being released in exchange for a British lecturer, Gerald Brooke, held on spy charges in Moscow.
