- Story Text:Al Ahly fans in Egypt celebrated the crowning of their club as African champions for the fourth time in the last five years with their side beating Esperance of Tunisia 1-0 in Saturday’s (May 25) second leg of the Champions League final.
Al Ahly fans gathered to watch the match in cafes in Cario and flooded the streets waving flags and singing songs when the win was secured.
Home victory in front of a capacity 60,000 fans in the capital city secured a 1-0 aggregate triumph, after last Saturday’s (May 18) goalless first leg in Tunisia.
It also marked a record-extending 12th victory for Al Ahly in the continent’s top club competition.
Esperance, who have won the title on four occasions, finished runners-up for a fifth time.
