- Story Text: Grammy award winning musician Billie Eilish has received positive reviews for her third album ''Hit Me Hard and Soft'', which was released on Friday (May 17).
Rolling Stone magazine said Eilish is ''more playful, more pissed, and as brilliant as ever'' on her latest record, which like her previous work was produced by her collaborator and brother, Finneas O'Connell.
They are ''one of the great sibling mind-meld duos in pop history, always goading each other on to bigger surprises,'' the U.S monthly culture magazine wrote of the pair.
Eilish took the music industry by storm with her 2019 debut album ''When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?'' bagging numerous prizes including a 2020 Grammy for album of the year.
Reflecting on the latest release, British news publication The Guardian gave the 10-track album four out of five stars, saying it's ''an impeccable mix of haunted earworms, zinging lyrics and dancefloor delights that end too soon.''
According to Eilish, the record is a “family of songs,” ideally intended to be listened to from beginning to end.
The first single release ''Lunch'' is out this week and features Eilish singing lines including ''I could eat that girl for lunch. Yeah, she dances on my tongue. Tastes like she might be the one.''
Music magazine NME says the track is a ''return to the same pulsing beat of ‘Bad Guy’ and ‘Bury A Friend’'' - songs from her debut hit record.
Earlier this year, Eilish and O'Connell scooped their second Oscar, for the track ''What Was I Made For?" from the film ''Barbie'', as well as picking up two Grammy awards for the song.
As well as releasing new music, a tour is in the works under the same name as the album, starting from September 2024.
