- Story Text:Belgrade on Friday (May 3) marked the first anniversary of a school shooting that killed 10 people.
Last year, a teenager killed ten in an elementary school in Belgrade.
In the second shooting on May 4 last year, a 21-year-old man killed eight in a town outside Belgrade.
Relatives and friends gathered on Friday outside the school where the 9 pupils and a security guard were killed.
They lit candles at a memorial, held a minute of silence and viewed photographs of the victims.
"What do we need to change in ourselves and in society so that things like this do not happen to us in the future?" said Aleksandar Baucal, a professor at the Philosophy faculty who witnessed the shooting.
The two shootings shocked Serbia and triggered the biggest anti-government protests since the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) took power in 2012, prompting the government to call a snap election.
