- Story Text: The Kremlin said on Wednesday (April 17) that Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, must ensure that the application is not used as a tool by terrorists.
Telegram, widely used in Russia and growing in popularity elsewhere, will likely cross one billion active monthly users within a year as it is spreading like "forest fire," Durov said on Tuesday.
The Kremlin last month told Durov to be more attentive after the application was allegedly used to help recruit the gunmen who attacked a concert hall outside Moscow. Durov said measures had been taken immediately to stop unknown users posting messages appearing to call for new acts of violence. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
