- Story Text: Heavy rain caused flooding at Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park prior to Turkey and Georgia's Euro 2024 F opening match on Tuesday (June 15).
Fans huddled for shelter after rain water breached the stadium roof soaking the stadium stands and forcing grounds staff to intervene to stop a waterlogged pitch that would delay kick-off.
Germany's weather service also issued a warning after forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail in several host cities including the capital Berlin.
The extreme weather has also forced several fan zones which attract tens of thousands of guests for public viewing of matches across Germany to close until Wednesday.
