- Story Text: Stevie Nicks, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams are among the singers set to perform at this year's British Summer Time festival, which opened in London's Hyde Park on Friday (June 28).
American singer Sza, the first headline act to perform at the festival, will be appearing on the main stage on Saturday evening (June 29). The female singer of revenge fantasy "Kill Bill" will also be closing the main stage of Glastonbury on Sunday (June 30).
Rock band Kings of Leon will headline the BST festival on Sunday, seven years since their previous set at the Hyde Park event.
Other performers include Australian popstar Kylie Minogue, five-time Grammy winner Shania Twain, British singer Robbie Williams, country musician Morgan Wallen and American rock artist Stevie Nicks.
The CEO of European Festivals and head organiser of BST Hyde Park, Jim King, told Reuters the festival bags such huge names in part due to its central location.
"This is one of the most famous parks in the world, not just for being an amazing space but obviously for the music concerts it's been holding here since the late 60s," he said. "We always say that London's one of the most amazing markets for fans of music and that's why artists want to come here."
Since the event started in 2013, BST Hyde Park has welcomed the likes of Adele, Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi.
One of the seven all-female acts who will support Stevie Nicks' show on Friday 12th July is Catrin Hopkins, who goes by the stage name Catty. She performed an acoustic set to media on Friday, and told Reuters that she needs a second income to be able to sustain her singing career.
"I waitress to make sure that my music comes out and also to pay my bills and my rent...I just don't know how people are putting music out because it's such an expensive game, so much goes out and not much money comes in."
Organisers are expecting up to 500,000 people to attend the festival, which will close on Sunday 14th July with a performance from K-Pop band Stray Kids.
