Tyler Perry hopes to send an encouraging message with his new film “Tyler Perry’s Divorce in the Black.”
“I would love people to take away ...love people as much as you want, but, but if they don't want to go, there's nothing you can do to bring them over,” said Perry.
The director has teamed up actors Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict to tell the story of Ava, portrayed by Good, who was left heartbroken after her husband, Dallas, played by Hardrict, walked out on their marriage.
Despite the unexpected abandonment by Dallas, she remains committed to saving her marriage until the unsavory truth about Dallas's actions surfaced.
Perry said he was inspired to tell Ava’s story after hearing his co-workers lament over their love lives. Perry said he began to write random sentences until it became a developed story about surviving heartbreak as a single or married person.
For Good, the film is about focusing on the silver linings of life.
“Being grateful and being thankful and saying, yeah, this may have happened, but I get to do this now. Or yeah, this may have happened, but here's what I got out of it. Here's what I was able to give. Here's what I was able to learn. Here's how I'm better for it,” said Good.
“Tyler Perry’s Divorce in the Black” will begin streaming on Prime Video on July 11.
