- Story Text: Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement admit that their new look on the classic film “Time Bandits” has an error.
The 1981 film featured 6 little people actors in the central roles. However, Clement said their decision to go a different direction in their remake was incorrect.
“It was a debate that we were trying to figure out what's the right thing to do. And, I think possibly we chose the wrong…. And we're trying to fix that.”
Clement said they’ve seen the backlash online and people were right to be upset and they plan to have a mixed cast if they get a season two.
The 10-episode series follows a group of thieves and their newest member, an 11-year-old history enthusiast named Kevin, played by Kal-El Tuck. With the guidance of Lisa Kudrow's character, the team embarks on thrilling quests to save Kevin's parents and the world from looming evil forces. Their adventures take them through historical periods — witnessing events like the creation of Stonehenge, the Trojan War, and the Harlem Renaissance — relying on Kevin's historical knowledge to navigate these diverse eras.
The cast also includes Tadhg Murphy and Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, while featuring cameo appearances by creators Waititi and Clement.
The series will premiere globally on Apple TV+, with the first two episodes on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Two new episodes will then be released every Wednesday through August 21, 2024.
