  • Story Text: The third installment in the "Deadpool" movie franchise had its world premiere on Monday (July 22) in New York with stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman hitting the red carpet.
    Reynolds said his long-term personal relationship with Jackman, who pulled his Wolverine character out of retirement to help the wise-cracking Deadpool (Reynolds) save his world, was part of the reason why he knew the film would work.
    “We've always been so close, you know, and, and, and so you kind of know from that perspective,” said Reynolds.
    “But also… I think people have to be pushed and I needed to be pushed. So, you know, I'm co-writing this script, but, you know, writing dialog for Wolverine. Thank God he was so generous helping guide me in that direction. But, he pushed me a harder than I think I've ever been pushed,” he added.
    Jackman said the film gave him a chance to reunite with old Marvel Cinematic Universe cast members.
    “They're all amazing. I think it made me realize it's been 24 years and a big - the biggest part of the foundation of my career and so many incredible memories. But I have to tell you, this experience with them and working with Ryan was the best of all of them,” said Jackman.
    While secrecy surrounds the film's plot details, cast member Matthew Macfadyen is one of the few who has seen the movie.
    “I loved, I loved making it and I love watching it, and I'm really looking forward to watching it again because there's a lot I missed the first time… there's a lot of kind of, there's a lot of MCU, Disney, Fox in-jokes and little treats and surprises, and there are some surprise appearances,” said Macfadyen.
    The only Marvel-Disney movie released this year, "Deadpool & Wolverine" is expected to be a box office hit when it begins its global cinematic rollout on July 24.
