- Story Text: The rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr and John Gotti III was previewed Thursday (August 1) as the two boxers participated in a news conference.
The event was held in midtown Manhattan in New York, the hometown of Gotti III and his notorious family. The boxer is the grandson of mafia boss, John Gotti.
Mayweather comes into the match of course with his incomparable track record.
Undefeated and a 12-time, five division champ, Mayweather was making sure to take his challenger seriously.
"I've been to the highest you can possibly go and fought some of the best fighters in the history of the sport," he said. "But he's a tough competitor, and I take my hat off to him. He want to run it back. We could run it back twice. Three times. It is what it is. I was born to be a fighter. I'm a die a fighter at the end of the day."
The pair first faced off in June of last year. The rematch will take place later this month on August 24 at Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City.
